Mary Reeder’s practice concentrates on representing insurers in complex insurance coverage litigation, involving claims for insurance coverage of environmental contamination, construction defects, and products liability.

She also defends hospitals and their employed physicians in medical malpractice actions throughout the state of Indiana, and represents manufacturers of consumer products and industrial products in products liability actions.  

An active trial lawyer, Mary has tried more than 25 cases to a jury, most involving serious bodily injury or wrongful death.  She has practiced with the Firm continuously since joining the Firm immediately upon graduating from law school in 1983.

Representative Cases

  • Defended a trucking company involved in a triple fatality accident.  Case settled favorably to client prior to trial.
  • Defended a manufacturer of a consumer product whose user became a quadriplegic as result of an accident.  Case settled favorably to client prior to trial.
  • Defended subcontractor in wrongful death claim by employee of co-subcontractor.  Obtained a verdict in favor of client at trial, when a multi-million-dollar verdict was entered against general contractor.  
  • Obtained summary judgment for hospital in a medical malpractice action, based on contributory negligence of the patient.
  • Represented hospital and physician in medical malpractice action before the Indiana Supreme Court, in which Court affirmed summary judgment in favor of client based on the statute of limitations, upon holding that the statute of limitations did not violate the Privileges and Immunities Clause of the Indiana Constitution: Ledbetter v. Hunter, 842 N.E.2d 810 (Ind. 2006).
